Yesterday was one of those dull dark grey winter days - but we needed some fresh air so we didn't let that stop us from going for a walk.
We spotted this heron fishing off a log. I used the sports setting on my Rebel T3i camera to get these shots. I so love that camera - one of the best things I ever spent good money on. I have taken several thousand photos since purchasing it almost four years ago and have taken it to three different countries. These pictures were taken with my telephoto lens that I paid extra for - a smart choice at the time. He looks like he is going off on a grand flight but really only went 3 feet and started fishing from the water. I never get tired of nature.
I LOVE the last picture especially! I have the Rebel XS, but it is pretty limited. I have thought about upgrading. Never tire of nature myself.
ReplyDeleteI love my camera - that and my phone with my laptop - 3 physical things that I have great attachment too. I would highly recommend the rebel. If you want to do distance photography though it would be good to buy a separate lens for that.
DeleteA heron is one of my favourite things to spot on a walk. They seem so serene-until they see food. What a pain with the boil water. We have a well and treatment system but if the power goes off then no pump to get the water. I've got several water jugs I refill regularly to keep the water fresh. Blue sky today on this side of the strait, hope the same for you.
ReplyDeleteWe did have a couple of sunny days this week - so nice to see in the winter time. I ended up buying a 7.5 litre container that people normally used for bottled water - it is working much better.
DeleteMy favourite bird. Wonderful photos, thank you for sharing.

I am a sucker for any birds but herons are one of my favorites too!
DeleteWhat incredible photos, he looks like he's dancing. You might have a fancy pants camera but you also need a great eye to take good photos and you really do! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Vix! They have a very large wing span so they tend to swoop and glide. It was interesting to see how he had to fly to go 2 feet into the water to go fishing.
DeleteThat is amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture - especially the last one!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOh my goodness! These are fabulous photos! That last one is super!
ReplyDeleteThanks - I had a great subject.
DeleteYou have a great camera but you have an eye for photography. I hope that you have a wonderful 2015!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonya Ann - you too!
DeleteI agree with Vix - goodt camera, right time, right place, good eye and good photographer. I think it really takes all that to get those kinds of shots. Just beautiful! Thanks for sharing them. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara!
DeleteBreathtaking! Against that grey background - WOW!! Great shots!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane! The water was so grey because of how grey the sky was. I wonder what the pictures would have turned out like if it was sunny lol.
DeleteStupendous photos!
