It's Springing

Finally our trees have started to bloom, so pretty in the streets.  Many apple and plum trees with pink blossoms.

And after 9 days finally my cucumbers have sprouted through the soil - I was starting to worry that they weren't going to germinate.   I won't plant these in the ground until the end of April/early May but am looking forward to many fresh cucumbers this year as well as tomatoes.  They are sitting in a spare casserole dish that I don't use very often - why buy things when you can use things you already have.  The peat pots came from the dollar store.  Once these get larger I will transplant them to pots.
I don't have allergies but have come down with some sort of sinus infection or bronchitis....not feeling wonderful today and didn't sleep at all last night so will keep it short today.  To Spring!

  1. Hope you feel better soon and it is a passing bug. No signs of spring here yet. I see lots of Greek salads in your future.

Our magnolia is in bloom and there's blossom on the trees - and it's been snowing today! x

    1. You certainly get all weather like us - strange for you to get snow this late in the year isn't it?

    1. Thanks! I only bought one cucumber plant last year but absolutely loved having homegrown fresh cucumbers, I think if 6 of these make it I will be happy

  5. We have had recurring respiratory/sinus issues unlike anything in years past, so our sympathies are with you! I love cherry and apple blossom time but am thrilled to finally live in a yard free of those trees. Lovely to look at, horrible to clean up after!

    1. We don't have any in our yard, our neighbors have a cherry tree though that drops stuff into our yard - yes for crappy cleanup.

  6. Beautiful photos. Sorry you’re ailing. I do have allergies. A sneezing fit every day that wakes up the dead ... and the neighbors probably. Probably should do so,eating about that.

  9. Here only the dogwoods and azaleas are still blossoming. Everything else is now leafing so spring is nearly over here. The 15th is the last recorded frost date here, so I always wait until then to set any plants, but I am ready this year!

    1. We have a water ban on due to the town changing one of the main pipes that service 2 towns for the next 10 days so I am waiting until after that. In the mean time I can weed and prep the flower beds - a huge job in itself!

  11. I'm cutting back on gardening this year so we can enjoy cruising in our boat without worrying about getting home to water. - Margy

    1. I am going to be careful just sticking to tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries - like you I don't want to overdo it.
