Buddy is still entertaining us on a daily basis. We try and go for walks with him every day except when the weather is really lousy like yesterday and today. Those days we play indoors to try and get some of his puppy energy out so that we can have a quiet evening with him. One of his very favorite toys was absolutely free - hubby had long ago cut up an old bathrobe for car wash rags and still had the tie hanging around. Buddy quickly claimed it.
The next shot is not great as my good camera's battery was dead at the time but thrifty hubby has been playing outside with Buddy - a rope with knots tied in it with a plastic bottle on the end. Completely free and hours of joy. This is mostly used for running and jumping - although sometimes Buddy hog-ties himself.
These are the ducks that we see on our daily walk. They are not shy and always come right up to us thinking we have food. Buddy is an extremely quiet dog so no barking - he is of the opinion that if they leave him alone, he will leave them alone. He only barks at himself in the glass on the oven and washing machine and when we are playing with him.
This is Buddy holding down the couch last night while we were watching TV after a full day - "Put the damn camera away Mom". He had his final vet shots last week so now no more Vet activity until he gets fixed in summertime. He likes the Vet who is an extremely nice lady but by the end of his shots, wouldn't even eat her treats.
And finally, I am getting dog tags made up and we have made a decision which one to go with (*I apologize if I offend anyone but one of these is exactly what Buddy would say if he could talk). Which one do you think we picked? These are available on ETSY (just search dog tags) along with a lot of other neat ones in case anyone else is looking.
This is the one! |
We are having a "rain" event right now with howling winds. My biggest challenge on days like these is convincing Buddy not to eat every earthworm and slug (yes, yuck) that he comes across when he goes out to do his business. Luckily he likes playing with his food before he eats it so I have mostly been successful. I am not so worried about the earthworms as they are a good source of protein (and kind of like potato chips when found dried lol) but the slugs are large and freaking disgusting. He licked one several times before I caught on to what he had.
Please be sure to also visit my friend Lorraine from CLAMCO for her furry friday edition. From me and Buddy - Happy Spring and have a great weekend everyone!
Those dog tags are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBuddy is such a cheeky boy, love that picture of him on the sofa. xxx
Cheeky is right, he is a little shit disturber :)
DeleteBuddy is so precious. What a joy! Love those tags too. Happy first day of Spring!
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
He is a super cutey - hates the rain though.
DeleteI love the tag...I'd like one for myself actually!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Maybe a keychain? lol. I have a really hard time finding my car in parking lots...
DeleteLol...I once saw someone with an umbrella and it said on it "Shit, it's raining!" Of course you could only see that when the umbrella was open...in the rain...
ReplyDeleteMan, I need to find that umbrella - so funny!
DeleteI love those dog tags also. He is a cutie. If you have time tomorrow you should pop by my blog, as I have a dog story.
ReplyDeleteI shall be there!
DeleteI love the dog tags. So funny! I love the rope with the bottle at the end. What a great idea! Buddy is so cute! Thanks for the link. I'll add yours to my FF post.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of doing Furry Friday every other week - that way not all my posts are about Buddy, but it is really hard, he is really sweet and cuddly and hard not to brag about.
DeleteI love that tag! The slug thing would gross me out too!!! Luckily, they are not a big problem here in Western NY. Has he been micro-chipped? If not, I suggest that. The cheapest way is to attend a clinic -- if they have them around you. Shelters and rescue organizations often do them as fund raisers.
ReplyDeleteAnd fwiw, tug is the most motivating game to use to train and reward your dog. If you set up a pattern of calling him to come and rewarding him with a tug, you'd be amazed at how good he'd become. Then again, from the looks of his ancestry, I am guessing he is good about sticking with you and coming when called.
He really is cute!
He is getting microchipped when he gets fixed this summer - the vet recommended waiting until after he gets his permanent poodle teeth as sometimes they need to remove one or two at the same time so he only goes under once. In the mean time he doesn't get let out of our sight lol
DeleteMeant to also say he sticks to me like glue. My furry little ball and chain
DeleteJust like kids! Our cats' favourite toys are boxes and paper bags. We had a cat years ago who went nuts for drawstrings from sweats.
ReplyDeleteHe likes his other toys too but ropes or anything tug of war just keep him occupied for hours - if we would play that long
DeleteVery cute dog tags. Oh the energy of a puppy :)
ReplyDeleteWay too much energy! I haven't had a dog in years - since a kid, cats until I met hubby, they are so much lower energy lol.
DeleteI got a good laugh over the tags! Buddy is getting cuter by the day. I'm glad that he is bringing so much joy to your home.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, if this dog could talk that is exactly what he would say. Sometimes, he swears with his eyes :)
DeleteSo cute!!!! He will entertain you for a long time to come! It's so sweet when they find they own toys!
ReplyDeleteWe did buy him a couple but he gets bored easy so these seem to keep him pretty occupied.
DeleteCute. I'll take a couple of those tags too.
ReplyDeleteAren't they cute?
