Due to the horrendous torrential rains on our trip I took very few pictures that I can share on the blog. I took some family pics but as always, I like to respect my family's privacy so those shall remain for family eyes only. We got one day of sunshine on our trip, our departure day.We drove to Victoria and took the Black Ball Ferry from Victoria inner harbor to Port Angeles. This was really painless and a nice way to cross the border.
We then travelled part of the Pacific Coast Highway to Olympia Washington where we connected to the Interstate that went on to Portland. The second we crossed into Oregon it started raining and it didn't stop until we got home four days later. Due to not wanting my camera to be wrecked, let me just say that I would love to do this drive some day in nice weather as it was really pretty.
This is a shot of the Vineyard where my cousin got married. That is not fog but rain in the background. What started out as an outside wedding saw 80 people under an overhang on the side of the building. Just remember the next time you go to wear a cute little dress to prepare for bad weather and pack a wrap/umbrella/coat. Lots of people were a little chilly.
We then moved indoors for the reception, which initially saw a few tables under heaters outdoors as well. Due to the rain they managed to fit all the tables inside but with no space to move between tables. The Wedding cake was fantastically decorated like the Polynesian Tattoos that my cousin is so famous for. Did I mention he is a Tattoo artist? I say artist as he also does paintings and installation art, even having designed a gate for the City of Portland. Those cupcakes were absolutely yummy.
I was really hoping for a more photogenic trip but the weather did not co-operate. It was still a lovely wedding and so nice to see my family. We were very fortunate to not be re-routed in our travels as there was a section of the Pacific Coastal highway where one lane had been covered by a mudslide.
It was nice to go away but is is also very nice to be home now. Have a nice weekend everyone!
