I took this last week. Buddy is always by my side. He actually cooperated for this selfie. As you can see, I still have some hair, about 1/3. I am not sure how long that will last as I start chemo again on Wednesday but you never know.
I also started driving again this week. I took Mom to her dentist appointment and sat in the car while she was in there. I also delivered our company year-end to the accountant, both very safe activities. Today I have to take Mom to the bank and do our grocery order pickup (they put it in enclosed trunk, zero interaction). I even managed to vacuum one room yesterday (but was tired after) so am slowly able to do more things. Hubby has been doing everything and I really want to take some of the burden off.
I had several medical appointments this week, a couple by phone and one in person with my GPO (General Practictioner Oncologist who assists my main Oncologist who lives in another city). It is weird after holing up at home for 2 months to be going out again but I am comfortable doing so. I asked about the vaccine as they are currently vaccinating care home residents, next up 80 year olds. It turns out, at least here in BC, there is no intention of vaccinating cancer patients who are undergoing chemo for fear that we could end up much sicker. I have a wait and see attitude, the world is vaccinating quicker than Canada (supply issues) so they will be making those decisions sooner than us. I have little fear of catching Covid now as we are super careful everywhere we go and I never am within 12 feet of anyone who isn't a healthcare professional or Mom or Hubby.
It snowed here a little yesterday and is colder than it normally gets here (minus 3 celcius) but is warming up this weekend to above zero temperatures. That will be a relief for the hummingbirds as they overwinter here and are waiting every morning when I put their feed back out(take it in every night so it doesn't freeze).
Have a great weekend everyone!
Buddy is so adorable. What a nice pup to keep you company. It has been very cold here today too. The temperature dropped more than 10 degrees Celsius in a day and it started to snow a little bit. Hopefully we will get more snow in the next few days. You have a great weekend too!
ReplyDeleteWe've had 3 straight days of snow now, have at least a foot on the ground now and it isn't stopping! But it is supposed to be plus 7 tomorrow so the big melt will start. Hubby is SO tired of shovelling off the sidewalks and driveway
DeleteThe love our four legged family members give is immeasurable! No doubt he is part of your recovery-and you look lovely. It is such wonderful news to hear of your steps, and I hope as chemo progresses, you get the rest you need, while continuing your steps.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sam. Yes, Buddy is such a bright light in our lives, we are so thankful for him
DeleteBuddy is adorable, look at those eyes! I wish I could give him a cuddle, I love the feel of poodle fur.
ReplyDeleteYou are looking fantastic, Mrs! The hair looks great from where I'm sitting and I'm delighted that you're able to get out and about, safely and away from any risk. It must feel good to be able to share some of the housework.
I've checked the official vaccine website and it looks like Jon & I will be getting our jabs sometime from 27/4 - 11/5, like you say, we take care and don't go near anyone so it's fine by us.
Stay safe! xxx
It is a huge relief that I can do a few things - I still fight the lack of energy but if I take it slow and easy I can get things done. Right now it is snowing so much hubby has been shovelling so I made a big breakfast and did some laundry since I can't help him.
DeleteLove the pics! You look wonderful! Our daughter in Austin got ice yesterday. She said Monday they are getting cold temps that haven't been seen there in 30 years. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI heard about Texas, that is brutal!
DeleteSo happy to hear from you, and that you are able to take on a bit more each day. That's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI was able to help my parents secure a vaccine (in Sequim, WA - so far from their house!). They are thrilled & have a second vaccine scheduled for early March. They are very excited to have the option to return to a bit of social normalcy. All of their friends are of the right age to get vaccinated as well, so they will have an entirely vaccinated friends group.
So glad you got slots for your parents vaccine, I know my Aunt in Kansas got her first shot Friday so hopefully everyone will get the vaccine soon.
DeleteYou look well! I only hope you feel as well as you look.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I lack energy but otherwise am doing good. I take lots of rests :)
DeleteBuddy is such a sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes he is. He is so loved but gives us as much as he gets
DeleteYou look amazing! Stay safe and continue to get well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Elaine :)
DeleteBuddy is a cutie, that face! Glad to hear you're doing so well, though I suppose the next of chemo will set you back a bit. You've got good help though!
ReplyDeleteSaskatchewan is planning to vaccinate 60-69's starting in April so I'm hopeful I'll get mine within a month or so of that.
Take care!
Buddy is such a sweetie, and very good for my mental health. I hope you get your jab soon!
DeleteAwwww.... your sweet little Buddy! They sure can make the world a friendly place, can't they. I'm xo glad you're doing better, honey. It sounds like life is humming along and you're making the best of it. You look beautiful in your picture and with hair or not, that beauty will not change one iota. Keep fighting, my dear... you have LOTS of life ahead of you. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrea, making the best of what life we have is all any of us can do right now :)
DeleteThats a lovely photo of you and buddy! Our cat also loves to sneak into a nice clean basket of washing when she can. Sending you good vibes for chemo xx
ReplyDeleteFortunately Buddy is an extremely clean dog, we bath him every week as he sleeps on our bed with us but he is normally really clean thankfully. Thank you Jan
DeleteThat's a lovely picture of you and Buddy - and you look well. I'm glad life's picking back up for you somewhat - oh the joys of being able to leave the house right? Take care of yourself and thanks for letting us all know how you're doing!
ReplyDeleteLeaving the house is a wonderful thing. After chemo I might even go to stores again
DeleteSweet Buddy. Why would you stop rubbing his belly? Glad that you are slowly adding more activities to your day but be sure to know when to stop. It must have felt wonderful to get in the car and have some freedom. Best of luck for an easy treatment Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteDriving is good, takes almost no energy and I can help hubby as can drive Mom around (and she can pick up things for us). I don't drive much on chemo though so am trying to get a bunch of things done before that starts again
DeleteOh Buddy is so stinking' cute! Did he give you permission to stop the belly rubs? If not you are committing close to a dog felony.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you feel up to doing a little!
Buddy demands tummy rubs every single day (sometimes a couple of times a day) so I think we are off the hook :)
