And There's More
Update to my last post. After booking airfare, car rental, and making accommodation arrangements we received another message. Hubby's 88-year-old Aunt on the other side of the family, his Dad's sister, has also passed away, also in Alberta in the area he is traveling to. Now we wait to see what day that funeral is and should we change the air ticket. Likely we won't have to as word is they are trying for Monday or Tuesday and hubby is there until late Tuesday. Again, she was a lovely lady and lived a long and fruitful life and unfortunately has been in the throes of dementia for a few years, so a blessing at this point. What are the odds? 2 Aunts dying within 2 days of each other. Well, I picked up the drycleaned suit, condolence cards have been bought and today we make sure there's nothing else we need to take care of.

So sorry for your loss of another Auntie.
ReplyDeleteIn my head I saw your title and heard the TV pitchmen yelling, "BUT WAIT! There's more...."
I know, right? Things always come in 2s and 3s
DeleteMy condolences. It must be the season/the weather. My personal observation is that most elderly pass in January-February.
ReplyDeleteThanks T'Pol, yes you are right about this time of year
Deletesorry to hear about your Aunties. how is your Mum doing after her fall?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan. She's doing better, bruises are starting to fade 2 weeks after now. She is more careful which is good
DeleteI am so sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteThanks Evi
DeleteI'm so sorry for your losses. Sending good thoughts to your family
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the loss of another family member.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you Jackie
DeleteI'm so sorry, it's tough to lose two family members in such a short time. Hope all goes well with your husband's travel arrangements.
ReplyDeleteHighly unusual. No funerals for years then 2 in a row one day after another. Such is life.
DeleteMy condolences to you and your husband. Even though the Aunts were of a good age it is still sad to lose them. It seems to leave a gap when the people who have known you as a child are no longer here.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is so true. We are losing that generation. He really only has 1 aunt left with her marbles. The rest who are alive are lost to dementia. We make sure to visit her every time we go and she was so happy to see hubby at her sister's funeral
DeleteI know it's to be expected, and for someone suffering from dementia it can be a release for them as well as for family. That being said I hope your hubs manages to get to both funerals without too much hassle!
ReplyDeleteHe did manage both, fortunately they both used the same funeral home (we know the proprieters, the best undertakers in the world, a husband and wife team who refuse to sell out to the big conglomerates and who have served this community for 25 years, super nice people) so the funerals weren't on the same day, just one day apart
DeleteMore condolences.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mitchell
DeleteAbout your mom, I think the shower chair and hand held shower is a great idea. Presently I am using that system as I just had my left knee replaced. The chair is something else to hang onto getting in and out of the shower.
ReplyDeleteWe already have a chair and changed the shower head to handheld last year. The big bar we installed though is working well, thankfully
DeleteSo sorry for your losses. I think this time of year seems to be when we see an increase in passing of our older relatives. I am not sure why this is, but most of my aunts/uncles have passed in the January/February window. It would be nice if you could fit both services in and have time to be with your family during this time.
ReplyDeleteI agree, this time of year is big for people passing away. Hubby managed to fit so many people into his short visit, so glad he got to go.
