Merry Christmas To All

Christmas 1973.  I was the blonde on the left clutching my new Big Bird stuffed animal.  Boy, I loved that thing.  I was 3 and a half years old when this photo was taken.

All the Christmas preparations are finished, the house is clean, the fridge is full and other than a quick stop at the liquor store for some whiskey (for my stepson) we are all ready.  His plane is in the air right now - we will pick him up in an hour then take him down to the ocean before the sunsets.  It does appear that we will be having a green Christmas except in the mountains above the valley where there is plenty of snow.  We did get frost this morning and will have to take the hummingbird feed in for the next couple of nights.

Tonight we will eat Salmon with rice and salad, tomorrow we have an open house at our neighbors to attend then a Ukrainian Christmas Eve feast with perogies and a corn casserole called Nychanka.  Then Christmas day, turkey, dressing and all the trimmings.   Christmas to my family means eating, visiting, drinking, and watching movies.  We might even go looking at the Christmas lights tonight as well.

I wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas if you celebrate and if you don't enjoy your time off!

  2. Super cute vintage photo! We enjoyed some time at the beach today (frisbee on the beach, in short sleeves in December is unusual in Oregon). Tomorrow we will head to my parents. The boys will ride bikes, the girls will drink champagne, we'll do a sock exchange & a craft exchange. The kids will get a couple of gifts. Overall, it's incredibly mellow.

Happy holidays to you & your family - enjoy your time with your son!
