Zombie Hunting

Say hello to my little friend...Zombie head .50 cents

A very fast post to share some thrift store finds - I tend to stop by the thrifts at least 1 to 2 times a week just to see what they have.  I try and both have specific things in mind and also be open to anything.  On this day  I was looking for pants and sweaters.  I did end up buying 1 pair of jeans for $3, a blouse for $3 and a sweater for $4.  My best finds of the week were Mr. Zombie head above for .50 cents as hubby loves Halloween we like decorating on the cheap for it.  We only tend to add one item a year.  Hubby intends to put this zombie head (not a mask, is hard plastic and hollow) on a bamboo stake, which we already own to hold up tomato plants, in the front yard and light it up with lights we already own as well.

I also found a brand new without tags leather cross body purse that is perfect - my favorite coral/red colour (looks pink but is coral red).  My other cross body purse is starting to wear out and I own a very large purse that I use for traveling but don't like packing around every day.  This particular thift store is for a women's shelter.  They only increase price on items of higher value, priced at $9 still a complete bargain as I am certain it was $50 to $60 retail.  It is leather hubby has already conditioned it for me (what can I say, I am lucky,  he loves to polish and condition things).  I tend to wear things out.  Some people tend to buy lots of new stuff, let it sit in their closet then donate it to charity.  Thank goodness for that - both the charity and I benefit hugely.

Today is officially Canadian Thanksgiving although we did our turkey day yesterday.  It was very low key but the food ended up being fabulous and we have lovely leftovers for today so no cooking!  Mom wasn't feeling well so ate and went home rather than watching a movie.  Today she is feeling better so maybe she was just tired or a touch of the flu. They forecasted lots of rain this weekend and other than Friday morning the rest of the weekend has been lovely.  Right now not a cloud in the sky.  I am hoping the same for next weekend (forecast says rain) for our trip.

I am madly trying to finish off a powerpoint (delayed/procrastinated by this blog post) so I best get at it as I also have a bunch of packing to do for our trip and we hope to take the dog for a long walk, maybe even by the ocean today.  Cheers!

  3. One sure can find a lot of cool holiday items at a thirft store, and they pretty much cover all celebrations.

    1. I don't know why anyone would buy new holiday themed items, just a waste of money as the thrifts are just full of the stuff

  4. Jon likes to polish the shoes and bags we find on our travels, too. Must the Walsall (centre of the leather industry) in him! xxx

    1. For hubby it was being in air cadets when he was young, got lots of training polishing boots. I don't even have to ask, he just takes them - makes buying used shoes a lot easier since after he is done they always look brand spanking new

  6. Great purse! That's what I need - a new cross body purse. I've used the same one the last two years and just find it kind of awkward. Turkey leftovers is on our dinner menu too - no cooking today -YAY!

  7. I love where your hubs head is at. See what I did there. I'm funny. I'm an idiot. I'm a funny idiot.
I love your new purse. I used a gift card to buy a wristlet. It didn't work out. I need something bigger.

    1. Are you suggesting I wanted hubbys head on a stake? Maybe subliminally? ha ha. This purse is just small enough you can still put your wallet/glasses/keys/ gum and important crap in it.

  8. I once found a picture of my float cabin on a zombie apocalypse website. It was touted as a safe place to live since zombies don't cross over water. Glad it makes me safe. So far no zombies have tried, bears either. I got a thermos for fifty cents at the thrift store. I want to try making my own yogurt and it was the perfect price. - Margy
