For two weeks very April the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds Demonstration Squadron practice their routines at our Air Force Base (Comox) for air shows around the world. It is pretty cool and amazing to see them along with CF-18 Hornet fighter jets doing aerial manoeuvres from your back yard. Buddy, my puppy is wondering what all that noise is but the rest of us love it. As I type this I can hear a CF18 speeding overhead.
It seems they shot a video this week on one of our sunny days with amazing shots our town and ocean coastline. The video is only 4.5 minutes long - Enjoy!
They are awesome to watch. We went to the air show here a couple of years ago and loved it. We have another scheduled for this summer and are definitely going to it too!
My dead brother's house near the oceanfront in Virginia is right under the flight path for Oceana Naval Air Station and gets jet noise constantly. Not so much fun if you HAVE TO listen to them 24/7. lolz
24/7 would drive me crazy but we live about 5 km from the airport and normally can only rarely hear any planes outside other than these two weeks of the year.
Wow! I was fortunate enough to be in Comox one day when they were training. Just loved watching them. I have a soft spot for the base as their medics helped us in a medical emergency a few years ago. They were professional and kind which is what I remember most now.
What fun for you! For many years I lived a few miles from the Dayton International Airport in Ohio and could see the air shows and practices from my backyard. Oh the memories you have brought forth!
That is quite beautiful, both of the planes and the geography. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI am grateful every day to live where we do. Thanks for visiting!
DeleteWow! That's crazy cool, especially when they go upside down. Those condensation trails really enhance it with the patterns they leave behind. Neat!

DeleteCool thing! Now I am dizzy. 8-)

DeleteOooooh I envy you!! That was magnificent - I love the snowbirds!!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteSO cool!!! We get the air traffic from Chicago and Milwaukee but it isn't as cool. LOL
ReplyDeleteYeah, run of the mill planes just don't quite do it after you see these guys.

ReplyDeleteI meet people from the base all the time as there are so many - and all of them extremely nice. We just met the new young base firechief last week!

ReplyDeleteThat is the best part, when they are cruising right over your yard. My favorite too!
DeleteI love watching the Snowbirds. We came over a few years ago to watch them practice. We've also seen them at airshows over the years. - Margy
ReplyDeleteAugust 15th this summer is another airshow - you should come over!
