Flea Markets, Book Sales and a Garage Sale!

Ever since we got back from holiday our business has been booming and we have been BUSY!  I hate to complain but it would be really lovely to have a day off, as we haven't had any in three weeks now.  Hubby flew out of town on business on Tuesday so finally I had a tiny bit of time to do yard work - 6 hours worth in the past two days.  I think I pulled a muscle in my shoulder from lugging shovels full of mulch around.  First I weeded (monster weeds, that was about 1.5 hours by itself), then I mowed, and then I mulched.  I managed to get my front flowerbed done and planted annual flowers as well.  Enough yard work.  I shall hand the reins back over to hubby on taking care of the lawn when he gets back this weekend.

Cascais, Portugal Flea Market
We managed to go to a flea market in Cascais when on holiday and I bought a souvenir there.  What else would a flea market lover like me do?  Our guide saw my eyes light up so we had a quick 10 minute stop therewhere I found a pottery olive oil container for 5 Euro.

This pretty little bottle (for my collection) was found at the Waterloopein Market in Amsterdam for 5 Euro.  It is definitely blown glass with a couple of air bubbles and not pressed, unknown age but likely 20th century.

I managed to get myself to two charity used book sales in the past two weeks coming home with this lot for $20 - that should last me a year or two.

I also stopped at one school garage sale - bought myself an extra flat iron for my hair for $1, same brand as I bought several weeks ago for $40.  Always good to have a backup when found so cheaply.

Now I am off to go make myself a plate of nachos for supper as a girl can have whatever she wants for dinner when hubby is away - and nachos with salsa, sour cream and guacamole is what I wanted!

    1. I am not going to lie, sometimes if he is gone I just eat cereal! I get so much done when I don't have to cook anything that takes more than 2 minutes

  4. That's my fav dinner when I'm alone too. Hey - question for you. Are garage sales advertised anywhere in Edmonton, or do people just throw up signs?

    1. Kijiji.ca is the best place in Edmonton and Sherwood Park to find sales. Possibly craigslist but Kijiji is so much more popular there. People also just throw up signs. Sherwood Park any sunny Saturday morning and you could just drive around :) Happy Hunting

  5. How did you get those breakables home in one piece?

    1. One carryone had our laptop, ipad, and my big digital camera. The other had snacks, and our breakables coming home. We did pretty good but the next really long journey we take I am investing in one of those carryon that have the extended handle and wheels. Hubby has one for work but it was too bit for us to consider taking on this trip. Plus I made sure the breakables weren't that expensive so that if something went wrong I wouldn't be heartbroken. Neither piece is that big and we were very careful. We even managed to carry a rolled map of the world back from Amsterdam (we had been looking for one and found a sheet of wrapping paper with it printed on it - going to put all the places in the world we have traveled on it)

  8. When I'm alone for supper it is usually frozen pizza that I add extra stuff on...

Your thrifty finds make me itch for garage sales!

    1. The garage sales really go full force here the first two weeks of June. I agree, love this time of year due to that.
