The Fog

Front Door View

It has been a white winter here on Vancouver Island, and no, I am not talking about snow although it did snow a couple of times in December.  I am talking about fog.  Yesterday was clear and crisp but the day ended in fog.  Today it is 9:30 am and we have lots of fog.  Thick as pea soup (as Mom would say).  You can hardly see the house across the street.  We have had a lot of this this winter.  Usually it just rains in the winter on Vancouver Island.  We have had some rain but not nearly the usual amount, just a lot of fog.  I am not complaining though as lived through enough bitterly cold and snowy winters - no more.    When the fog clears we are going to go down to the ocean for some fresh air.

I have been cooped up at the office all this week covering for someone on holidays.  I worked 2x as much as I normally do and was doing the job of two people all week so am exhausted.  They have tried hiring a third person for our small office a couple of times and are on round three of interviews this week.  I agreed to this week of vacation cover as the other girl really needed some time off.  I just wish they would hire a third person though as this is getting stressful, and although I like my second job, I only want to be there 20 hours a week.    My first job is working for our company and a lot of that work got pushed aside this week, which is not good, so it is catch-up time this weekend.  As for those Christmas lights hanging off the house, yeah, we need to take those down this weekend too.

And what are you doing this weekend?

  3. We get fog here sometimes in the south and it gets pretty thick. As far south as we are, we actually had snow and sleet the other day. This is a winter to remember for the whole country it seems. We don't have much planned for the weekend other than staying inside and keeping warm.

    1. Wow, snow and sleet where you are? Weather is definitely changing, I bet you never expected that when you moved there.

  4. I love fog (but not for days on end and not when I have to drive in it). No fog here lately. As for the weekend, dinner with friends last night and today I'm off for another long walk on the beach in bright sunshine and 20C/68F. Not bad.

    1. Wow, that sounds wonderful. I can't wait to see some of that same sun in your neighbor country Portugal in April!

  5. Here in Seattle . . .
I was just saying to my kids the other day, "hasn't it seemed like we had to drive in fog more than usual this year?" But, the fog means less rain. And I'd rather drive in fog than rain any day. Fog usually burns off to beautiful sunny weather, rain just lingers.
So gorgeous yesterday, here, that we had the sunroof open on the car as we ran our errands. We'll have lunch on the deck today, as the fog is now burning off.

    1. Definitely more fog than usual. Friday was sunny but I worked all day and by the time I got off it was dark. The fog didn't burn off at all on Saturday and today the same - starting to feel like I am in a horror movie

  6. We are in yet another blizzard today. I would much rather have fog and be able to go to the beach. Sorry to hear that about your work situation.

    1. I feel guilty even sharing our weather when so much of North America is blanked in the white cold stuff.

  7. It's been snowy and ice cold here. I would take the fog! Your neighborhood looks nice, well from what I could make out. LOL

  8. We leave our Christmas lights up all year. We love them, but we also have no neighbours up the lake to complain. - Margy
