Hard Work Pays Off

A quick post as a little news to share with you - I got my second raise in four months yesterday!  Due to my hard work the owners recognized the fact that I have gone above and beyond my role and payscale and I have gotten a $2 raise!  I got a $1 raise last month after my three months probation so this was totally unexpected - $2 per hour over the $1 from last month!  So I am planning on putting away this money each month into our travel fund - Yippee!   Two of my step-kids fly in tomorrow so things are busy for a few days but I just wanted to share - and check out this youtube video on hard work - even if you hate rodents you have to give him props for persistence!

  5. That would have been a whole lot cuter and funnier if we hadn't returned home to the cabin last night and found that the mice had moved indoors. We've made it 12 years without an invasion, but somehow they've discovered us. I don't mind them outdoors, but I refuse to share my living space with them. We set a live trap last night and immediately caught one heading for the pantry where they had raided my trail mix and dried cranberries. His partner immediately arrived and the trap was already full. This morning we headed straight for Canadian Tire and bought five more live traps. We are "collecting" the live mice in a plastic barrel "Mouse Motel" complete with food, water and a roof to keep the rain out. Once we have a few more check in, we'll take them by boat to Goat Island. There's no way they can get back from there, and there's plenty of time for them to stock up for winter without my provisions. - Margy

    1. Travel gives me such joy, really much more than everything else so I am so grateful now we can save this money and it doesn't take away from anything else.

  8. Very cute video - especially since the mouse is in THAT RV and not MINE.

You've got some great bosses. Many times when employees go over and above their job descriptions, the extra work just becomes PART of their job. It's expected. Getting an increase shows how much your bosses appreciate you and are willing to show you. Says a lot about them. :)

  14. Despise the rodents...but I did click and watch. Wow! I am always in awe of the way God's creatures manipulate their situation. Love seeing HIS handiwork. Cute video and yay for the little rascle.
Congrats to you on your raise and your clever use of the money for vacation.
