Seal Bay Park, Vancouver Island
My younger two Step-kids flew out for a few days and we have enjoyed hanging out with them. We rented lots of movies, did some hiking by the ocean and some thrifting. Remember those god-awful long sweaters from the 1980's with bright patterns that you grimace over when you see pictures of yourself from that era? Well, so my Step-daughter tells me, the latest fashion is to find the longest biggest ugliest comfy sweater and to wear them over leggings. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you view it) I have long since purged them from my wardrobe so we went thrifting.
She and I used to go garage saling and to thrift stores so buying clothes in thrift stores is nothing new to her. We found five new to her sweaters for $24. No, I did not take any pictures as I try to allow the kids a bit of privacy, and all I brought home were unopened 50 cup-cake wrappers for .25 cents. I normally pay $1 for 50 at the dollar store so they were a bit of a bargain and something I use weekly for muffins. Everything comes back in fashion, skinny jeans, leg warmers, ugly long sweaters, and leggings. What is next? Spandex? I think LULU Lemon yoga pants fit that category. Pat Benetar headbands? Madonna lace fingerless gloves? So, if you have some of those 1980 ugly sweaters hanging out in your closet, pass them on to your nearest 16 year old :)
