Holiday Time

My stepson is in town for five days this week so we took a few days off work and have been spending lots of time being tourists.  We decided to do a short day trip to Campbell River which is a 45 minute drive from our home.  The day was extremely windy and rainy off and on but we still managed to have a nice look around.

The town of Campbell River has miles and miles of waterfront that is great for walking, biking and shell picking.

We spotted part of Canada's extremely tiny Navy going by.

I have never seen bald eagles gliding for the fun of it but this family of five eagles were just riding the wind gusts of up to 50km per hour.  It was great to watch.  There was Mom and Dad and three young eagles who still don't have their full coloring.

Then we drove back to Comox and did a bit of exploring at our marina.

I love watching jellyfish.  This guy was about three inches wide and floating around the base of the dock hanging out with some of his molusk friends.  The Vancouver Aquarium has a brand new jellyfish exhibit that just opened that I hope we can visit later this year if we go to the mainland.  The even have a live jelly cam - click here to see!

Today is sunnier and warmer so we plan on exploring some more beaches and ending the day with a BBQ. Cheers and have a great week!

    1. Thanks! We go to Alberta fairly often but they don't get to come here too much so it is a bit of a treat for all of us.

  2. We watch the eagles a lot at camp. It's majestic and awe inspiring. Our cliff is up 100 feet so sometimes they soar by at eye level. Sounds like a great day!

    1. The only other place I have seen so many eagles is Alaska. I routinely see four or five hanging out together at one time. It was a great day!

    1. They are not the easiest things to shoot due to the constant movement. I have only been stung once when swimming in the Pacific in Mexico by them but don't hold it against them.
