Figure seen in Carmo Convent, Portugal |
So in the midst of an extremely busy week getting back into the swing of things with our Company and my part-time job I managed to get a screw in my tire. The air did not go out but I could hear it thumping so figured out pretty quickly what was wrong. We have only lived here for just less than two years so didn't have a tire shop yet. I stopped in before work to Canadian Tire which is known for retail hours but not so great service. They lived up to the expectation telling me they were fully booked for two days with people changing to summer tires. I shot right back - I hadn't planned on getting a screw in my tire or I would have pre-booked!
Since the tire was holding air I drove quickly to work, getting desperate to find a tire shop before the air let go and cost us a tow or driveway tire change. My co-worker recommended a tire shop and guess what they did? Repaired my tire entirely for free! Unreal. I was fully expecting a $75 or more bill. All they said was although they were fully booked they always fit in flat tires if I could leave it.When I picked it up with no bill, they just asked for me to think of them when buying my next set of tires. Obviously a company that gets it. I don't have many readers near Vancouver Island or the Comox Valley but if you are in the area, please shop at Kal Tire Courtenay! They rock! And yes, I am buying some tires there in the fall. And Sonya Ann, if you read this I am sending some of this good car karma your way!
I finally have a bunch more castle photos edited so my next post will feature the Templar's Castles of Portugal!
That IS customer service! Smaller places do 'get' customer service, sometimes you pay a wee bit more, but it is worth it!

In this town I doubt we would even pay more, just the going rate. I am so happy to find a tire shop we can use from now on, always hard to find when you move somewhere new.
DeleteNICE!
ReplyDeleteReally nice, was so unexpected.
DeleteWhat a great tire company, and yes, they have earned your business for tire purchases. Templar Castles next, I look forward to that.
ReplyDelete1950s style service in the modern age. I wish all companies thought like that.
DeleteGood luck getting your car troubles in order!
ReplyDeleteSo smoothly, they really made my day - week - for fixing it for free. They have definitely earned my business.
DeleteYou don't hear stories like that often these days. That's inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI was a little shocked to say the least. How to make a really nice thing out of something crappy like a wrecked tire. They sure made my day.
DeleteGood for them, and good for you. Small town businesses should remember that locals have choices, most of the time that is. - Margy
ReplyDeleteExactly! I hate shopping at Canadian Tire but sometimes there is no choice. Now there is!
DeleteWell bless your heart for the good car karma! I hope it works!!!
ReplyDeleteI am the first person to shout out about a wonderful company. That really is the way to get your name out there.
I had to blog about it, they just blew me away!
DeleteI had a similar experience in PEI at a small tire shop in Montague AND NOW MY BROTHER IN LAW FROM BRACEBRIDGE WORKS THERE!! I had a tire issue of some sort and they fixed it for FREE! That's unheard of here in London, ON. And I can whole heartedly agree, based on past experience, that Canadian Tire is THE WORST place to get any work done.
ReplyDeleteVery very smart marketing, or just good people. Either way, they now have my paid future business.
DeleteGreat recommendation (although I'm in Spain and don't own a car). But, still, they know how to do business!
ReplyDeleteReally, they do. I wished all business operated in that good faith way.
