September 2018 - Come on Mom, play with me!

November 2018

-Buddy celebrated his 4th Birthday on Monday with a snuggly bed day as the weather was cold and dreary.  He has turned into the nicest dog, we are so completely in love with him.  He makes our lives better every single day.

- I ordered a new pair of glasses from Clearly.ca on Black Friday - yes I caved and did some Black Friday shopping but they had 40% off lenses and 60% off frames.  My last pair purchased in October 2017 is fine, but I just wanted another pair in slightly different style.  For $87 I got an upgraded frame, anti-glare and thinner lenses.  I am sure I will be happy with them as I was last year but if I am not they have a money back guarantee.  I will also get an 8% rebate through ebates.ca. That is a referral link if you're interest in signing up.  I don't do a lot of online shopping, mainly a small amount for the business as well as travel but have always gotten a cheque back every single quarter since I signed up a year and a half ago.

-The only other Black Friday sale I am taking advantage of is from our Pet Food Store as they have 20% off Buddy's food today - and it almost never goes on sale so I am stocking up.

- I received an email regarding the romaine lettuce recall from Superstore as they tracked me through my loyalty points as having purchased some.  There have been no cases of ecoli outbreaks here in BC but just in case I took it back for a full refund.  I had purchased an 8 pack for $6.99 and we had only eaten two - a rather dangerous freebie but since they are already eaten I will take it.

-No additional decorating has been completed as I have been busy with work and appointments - but I hope to get some done this weekend.  Next week I will share my vintage Christmas finds for this year so far.  I have to work on Sunday as have a big project deadline coming up but tonight spurred on by some eggnog or wine I shall try and get some cards written.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

    1. Yes, even more so when all the kids are adults and off on their own. He is the 5th kid (the one who doesn't ask to borrow the car or money!)

  2. Happy birthday Buddy! We spent Black Friday doing yard work. Then we ran into Home Depot really quickly to pick up some Dura flame logs for the fireplace. It was crazy in there! We hurried home, started a fire and binge watched a few more episodes of Outlander. It's very good, but a little too R rated sometimes. I did make an online purchase. An artist I like in Pensacola had 20% off and free shipping in his Etsy store. I couldn't resist so I bought a painting as a gift to myself.

    1. He is such a lovely dog, and such a good companion. He follows us room to room, never letting us out of his sight

  4. The romaine scare has me considering where my food comes from - though I guess it could happen anywhere.

Buddy looks like a happy puppy! Wishing him many more years of doggy joy.

Wow, $87 for a pair of glasses is amazing to me. I think my last pair were just under $600. They'd better last a long time as my medical plan only cover $160. The eye exam was $85 on its own. I have astigmatism in one eye and wear what the doc calls progressive lenses (really they are tri-focals). I'm not sure I could get them for less money but it would certainly be something I'll look into.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Hubby had more issues with his eyes...he ended up getting the best pair of glasses he's ever had for $380 multifocal with the darkening when he goes outside and antiglare. For more complicated glasses that might be the second cheapest way to go. I only wear mine for distance when driving/watching movies at the theatre etc.

  5. He is such a good boy! And good looking too.

I had to scramble to come up with a salad alternative for Thanksgiving. It was a pain as we had already consumed all the Romaine in the house when the notice of the recall came out.

We feed Teddy raw meat and people constantly tell us we should be afraid of e=-coli. Like really? The lettuce supply is far more dangerous!

    1. I always wash my produce to death, I am pretty sure those who got sick didn't. I feel terrible for the romaine farmers...what a blow to their business

    1. Yes, they are! Although I had cats before hubby and they are pretty cool too - but he is allergic so a dog it is!

  7. Buddy is soooo handsome! I agree, every home deserves a dog and every dog deserves a home with a loving family. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

    1. He is a beautiful dog - so glad those with allergies have poodles as options as hubby is very allergic so we stuck to hamsters for many years - but their lives aren't long and you get so attached to them just for them to pass on

  8. My two cats were born in July 2014 so same age approximately as Buddy - I wonder if they would get along! :) They are both curled up tightly for their daily naps. I can't imagine life without them - or life with zero pets. I did a little Black Friday shopping for Christmas gifts at Indigo. I went directly to the shelf where the books I wanted were (having looked them up prior to shopping) and I was in and out in 10 minutes. It wasn't too busy and I really appreciated the discount :) I usually start decorating the first weekend in December so you've got me beat. I'm not really motivated and have a funeral to go to on Saturday (a cousin). I'll probably wait until Monday to start the process. Look forward to seeing your thrifting finds!

    1. Buddy actually likes cats, is a little hard on them but plays with one at his sitters when the other dogs are tired of playing with him (he is a super playful dog). I'm sorry about your cousin, have attended many funerals in December of our relatives and it's always tough.
