Sunshine and Lollipops

With all that is going on in the world I decided that I needed to do a short happy post.  Buddy makes me happy so I am sharing him today.  One of our business clients is a chain of pet stores.  Hubby has to speak at a conference with them next week and we wanted a picture of him with one of their toys for our presentation.  Buddy was happy to oblige.  He is a toy killer so we usually let him play for a while and then before he destroys it chase him around the yard to get it back so he can play with it another day.  I think he particularly loves the chasing around the yard part.

It rained yesterday so Buddy had a liesurely day snuggling under the blankets.  He sometimes sticks his head under them so I will cover him up.

Nature gave me a funny this week too, one of my cherry tomatoes...yes, it looked like a baby butt when it was growing on the vine too.  I still have tomatoes on the vine by the way, likely will for another week or so.  There are at least 40 more cherry tomatoes there, and they are the larger size not the tiny ones.  I have frozen a bunch, given away a bunch and eaten a bunch.  It was a great year for cherry tomatoes.  I have about 15 on the windowsill in the kitchen, the second the tomato shoes any orange at all it comes inside.  We are scheduled for 3 days of sunshine now so hopefully more will start to ripen on the vine.

Ignore the news, read a good book, snuggle with your pet, have a great cup of tea (or something stronger if you prefer).  Have a great week everyone.

  1. I haven't had the tv on for months but as some of the new shows have started I am couch potato-ing it in the evening.
I don't watch the "news" as it's a waste of time.

    1. It is a waste of time, regurgitated crap. We used to enjoy watching the news...just hoping hubby will agree to cancel cable soon

  2. We have a toy killer too. I put her toys away every night before I go to bed and wake to find them in the exact place on the den floor where they were before I picked them up. Evidently Shelby believes the entire room is her toy box.
Great advice about ignoring the news!

    1. We have a toy box too - it is off the dining room. If only we could teach him to put his balls back (the only thing he can't kill)

  3. Sometimes I think "ignore the news" is often the way to go. I mean, if I personally can't do anything about it why read about it. I haven't been able to go completely "no news" yet but on days when I do avoid it I find my mood lifts. Shouldn't have read this post though as I am desperately trying to talk myself out of getting a dog when I retire in a couple of years. Anna

    1. Buddy has so enriched our lives. But...if you want to travel when you retire Anna maybe wait until after that....or pre-arrange a doggie care provider before you get him. It is so difficult to find a human you can trust with your dog...much like finding a babysitter for your kids. We got so lucky as the lady who sold him to us is a part-time breeder fulltime groomer and owns his Mom and Dad as her pets. She only breeds about 1 time a year now. She also allows all her past puppies to pay her 10 dollars a day to keep them him we travel. If only an overnight or a day trip Mom takes care of him but she has her own cat so it is unrealistic for her to take care of him for 10 days. Other than that he is such a sweet sweet dog and has taught us how to play again. We also get way more fresh air than we did before

  4. Buddy peeking head from the blanket is cute. I got a donation of tomatoes and grapes from friends. My balcony garden gave a lot of hot peppers.

    1. Lucky to get grapes, the best I can do is get them on sale like today at $1.49 day (per lb). I tried to give more tomatoes away but no one wanted them so I froze them

  5. You are so good to save the toy for another day. Zoey kills everything we give her. Rips things to shreds. She totally gets in a zone doing it. It must be calming or something. lol. Buddy is so cute!!

    1. We have seen far too many toys been shredded in minutes. I try and let him have things in little doses. His favorite toy right now is sockie which is a ball inside an old sock that was meant for the garbage. Those tend to last about 2 weeks at a time. Far cheaper than store bought toys.

  6. I thought Buddy had some sort of orthopedic device on one leg, like maybe a cast. That tomato looks good enough to eat right off the screen.

  7. Love the cute doggie :) I never watch the news I hate the fear-driven format, just fills the space with negativity. Knowing current events is important but I don't trust conventional sources for it. Yay, internet ;D

  8. I so want another dog but as we're thinking about selling up buying a motor home and travelling for a few years maybe it's not the right time lol

  9. Buddy is adorable, look at that cheeky face!
Frank loves his toys, we keep them in a pot under the chaise and it's his routine every night to lie on his back and fish each one out and chuck it across the room. He has us in stitches!
That tomato looks very tasty! xxx

  10. Our girls loved to kill the squeak in the stuffed toy. Then one of them would rip it out. I had a bunch of extra squeaks (bought online) and would re stuff, and a new squeaker and sew up the toy. Sometime it lasted an hour, other times days and even weeks. It was a labor of love.

We have three days of sunshine also. Today's job is an 15 hour one, and the next two days about 12 hours each. That is just the photography then there are the hours of editing. Hoping for more sun next week, lots more jobs to catch up on.

  11. Ahhhhhhh yes; after a week or two of 32c+ weather it has finally cooled off enough to enjoy cups of tea and kitty snuggles. I had my first fall walk through Kilally Meadows today too, brilliant sunshine but cool enough for a sweater. Perfect. Easy to ignore the more "worldly crap"!
