Surfer at Tofino - Chesterman Beach |
So now we have our weekend to ourselves but due to taking business days off next week today is Canada Day yet we will be doing some work to prepare for an upcoming contract. Mom is coming over for a BBQ and it is raining today so we will likely stay in and watch a movie or two after eating.
Some good news to report, my "challenging" stepdaughter that just graduated highschool signed her first lease and is moving out from her boyfriend's house on the 15th of July into a furnished shared apartment with two other ladies. The scary part is it is in Edmonton, not Sherwood Park where she grew up so it will be a large learning curve for her living in the city. They are very close together but Sherwood Park is more like a town. She is used to taking buses for transportation and there is a lot more employment in Edmonton. She has to quit her current job and find another but she seems a lot more mature now than she was even 6 months ago so I am sure she will be fine. She is super excited and so are we. Her boyfriend has been unemployed since he graduated a year ago and frankly she has recently been paying a lot of his bills. He is not moving out with her as gets free rent at his Dads house (she paid rent there). I doubt the relationship will last much longer but for now they are still seeing one another. This is the next important scary step in growing up and hopefully things will work out for the best. We helped all the kids the first time they "officially" moved out with $500 to go towards a damage deposit or furniture and she used hers for the damage deposit on the apartment. Hubby is flying out in 3 weeks to deliver a contract so will get to see it in person although she took numerous pictures and sent them to us for our opinion prior to signing the lease. She has been looking for a month and it is the best possible situation of all that she has looked at so we told her to go for it. She also recently talked to her Mother for the first time in 2 years so hopefully that fence will be mended although I am sure their relationship will never be the same as it once was due to a lot of crap that went on a couple of years ago on both their parts.
So all in all, still a good news week. And lucky me, it is Canada Day! After traveling to a lot of places in the world I still am very glad that I get to call Canada home, it is simply one of the most beautiful safest peaceful countries in the whole world.
Glad the blimp trip is just delayed! I still have blimp envy!
ReplyDeleteYour blimp trip sounds very interesting. Good for your step daughter-18 seems so young to me but if she is maturing and making good decisions, she's getting on track no small thanks to both of you.
ReplyDeleteLife is good.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read about your blimp trip!
ReplyDeleteWe will always worry about our kids because it is what it is....We want them to be healthy, happy and succeed but life being what it is...it throws us curve balls and we need to deal with them!
Stay positive!
Hugs

That's a shame that your trip was delayed but at least you've still got it to lok forward to. xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear about your daughter. It takes a while but they figure it out. We just have to worry and suffer a bit before hand.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see all of the pictures from the blimp and yes, you are very lucky to be self-employed. It saved your blimp ride. ;p
I didn't even know there were still blimps around - I am obviously "out of it" when it comes to blimps! That will be a very COOL ride! So glad things are working out for the step daughter! It was good to have plans made in advance about what she could expect from you two monetarily - perhaps I need to give my daughter the same incentive.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing more about your trip!!
