Furry Friday - Don't Lose Your Mind Just Because You Have A Pet

Happiness is Buddy Chewing On a Stick In The Sunshine

Buddy is such a lovely dog - we are so happy we got him.  We are trying to let him be a true dog versus a fru fru house only dog.  As you can see here, he fully enjoys sunshine, the yard, and chewing on sticks.  This is a very short post because it is late Friday night but I wanted to share something I saw today.  When we first got Buddy I found 100 biodegradable puppy poop bags at Wallyword for 99 cents.  I thought it was a reasonably good deal so I bought them.  Dollarama costs about $1.50 for the same.

Today at Superstore I saw these designer poop bags - 105 for $7.  Really?   Who the heck needs designer poop bags?  Plus who needs designer bags for cats ???!??? So - just because you have a new pet does not mean you need to lose your mind and spend stupid money on something like doggie poop bags lol.  Have a great weekend everyone!

    1. Seriously, usually Superstore is my cheapest grocery store but apparently they are trying to sell upscale doggie doo bags lol. I often see stupid things at the grocery store but this took the cake!

  2. I've seen these too. I buy the dollar store black ones that go inside a little bone shaped plastic dispenser that is attached to the leash. I guess targeted marketing preys upon excited new pet owners and hopes to cash in on their impulse buys. We paid $17 for a fancy harness that Zoey chewed right through while we weren't watching. And some dog toys don't last but 5 minutes, so choose wisely. A paper towel tube lasts about the same amount of time.

    1. I've never seen that dispenser. We did buy an expensive body harness that is still way too big for him (hubby is the culprit there) so I ended up buying a $3 dollar store harness that will work until he grows into the bigger one. I am marching right over to the recycling and digging out a toilet paper tube for puppy lol.

  3. A fool and his money are soon parted!
We use the clear veg bags that come on a roll in the supermarket. We just pull more than we need from the dispenser when we're buying our fruit and veg and put them in the trolley. No one ever questions us! xxx

    1. Great idea and we can use those in a pinch but based on how many bathroom breaks he has right now I think we will be buying them for some time :)

  4. Our local dog park provides bags for us and I take a couple extra to keep in the car. I have plenty of plastic grocery or GW bags to keep me covered otherwise. LOL I don't spend a penny on then! :)

    1. There are a few dog parks that give them out here but we are not at the dog park stage yet with him. I get a 3 cent each bag discount for bringing my own bags to the grocery store so use reusable ones - cheaper than the 1 cent doggie doo bags.

    1. It is, you would think they had better things to spend it on! Retailer play upon this though. You too!

  6. We don't have any pets, but I try to always carry a roll of these bags in my purse for impromptu Sea Glass collecting ;-).
I think it is a 'splurge' using the 'cheapo NEW' bags as opposed to recycled bags that newspapers get delivered in! No $7 bags in my future (but they ARE cute!!).

    1. Great idea! I seem to always have a poop bag in my pocket now for the many backyard trips we make - will have to take them to the beach too!

  7. We totally agree with you. In fact we would reuse any plastic bag we had as a poop bag because the bags would end up in the garbage either way, so might as well give them a use unless you are in a area that will recycle plastic bags.

    1. I use plastic bags too - we just don't have enough for it though. We are in a recycling area and I use reusable ones at the grocery store for a discount so we will be forced to buy some. Hubby is going to go buy 500 for $5 so we don't run out.

  9. Every now and then I buy the designer bags if I can find them at a discount store -- but always just as a gift. For us, it's the Dollar Tree or recycled shopping/store bags!

    1. I can see as a gag gift - but for everyday use the 1 cent bags will work for us. Our dollar store was $3 for 150 - twice the price!
