Living Life

I am jetting off back to Alberta tomorrow to meet up with hubby who is already there on business,  to attend my oldest stepson's high school graduation.  He has a job lined up to work full-time and has intentions of apprenticing where he works to become a mechanic in the not too distant future.  Ah, to be 18 again.

I thought I would share a little slice of livingrichonthecheap life.
  I'm:

Reading:  Two books, both bought at a used booksale for less than 50 cents each - Sue Grafton V is for Vengeance and Kathy Reichs, 206 Bones.  I read multiple books at the same time in case one stalls.  I always try and complete a book from start to finish but in the last year have actually quit a couple of books that turned out to be lousy half-way through.  Life is too short to read bad books.

Watching:  Just discovered the Veronica Mars TV series on Netflix.  Part-way through season one and really enjoying it.  When I am done will rent the 2014 Veronica Mars movie that was made by crowdfunding by fans.  Have you seen it?

Listening to:  Music on my iphone - favorites right now for current music are One Republic - anything on their last two albums and for classic music Elton John.  What a fantastic voice he has.  I never tire of listening to him.

Happy I accomplished:  Cleaned my whole house from top to bottom this week including vacuuming out the bugs out of all windows and washing all floors.  Their were dust bunny gangs roaming about that had not been rounded up since before we went to Europe.  They have now all been banished from the residence.  It is amazing the amount of work I get done when hubby is out of town for a few days.  I find it hard to clean properly when he is here underfoot...does anyone else have that issue?  Likely it has everything to do with him working from home.

Eating: One pot BBQ chicken breast, potato, onion and green pepper.  It is making the house smell fabulous right now and is easy, uses up ingredients lurking in the fridge and takes almost no time to prepare which is excellent as I don't seem to have much energy to cook for myself when alone.

Drinking:  Just about to pour myself a large glass of pear cider to go with the chicken.  Yummo.  British Columbia has the best fruit ciders.  Yes, there is alcohol in it.  Although I drink wine on occasion cider is cheaper and in my books, tastier.

Looking forward to:  Dinner out tomorrow evening with hubby and my four stepkids.  I haven't seen them since Christmas and miss them.  They are all young adults now with jobs and busy lives and it is very difficult to get all six of us in one spot at a time.

Have a great weekend everyone, and feel free to share "yours"!

  1. Reading: I can't read books. They put me to sleep. I read blogs and scroll through Twitter all day. Pitiful.
Watching: Just watched the season finale of Revolution. Glad they didn't renew it. Not interested in much else except the Colbert Report and he's going to replace David Letterman.
Listening to: The fan blowing in the room I'm in. It was 90 degrees today.
Happy I accomplished: Getting some listings up on Ebay today.
Eating: Rainbow sherbet...too much of it. Help! I can't stop!
Drinking: Lemonade. I even put it in with the sherbet!
Looking forward to: when my puppy stops chewing on everything in sight.

    Have a safe trip!

    1. I never watched any of revolution but am waiting for Season 2 of Under the Dome. Season 1 was really good - if you get the chance. Oh Rainbow Sherbert! My favorite is orange Sherbert. Cheers!

  2. Sounds like a great weekend! I clean much better when I'm by myself because my rhythm and plan aren't as likely to get thwarted. On the weekends here, it helps that hubby goes out to do yard work while I am inside cleaning.

Pear cider sounds yummy! We have fruit wineries so I'll have to check in any of them or the orchards make it.

  5. I hear you about hubby at home. Chris works at home a couple of days a week...I get less done as I'm afraid noise will disturb him on his office.
As for Elton John, his voice has got richer and better with age.

    1. Sounds fun! Home safe and sound now, a little tired to be honest. Visiting lots of family is that way some times.
