It was snowy and wintry in Alberta, with temperatures dipping to -22 degrees Celcius while we were there. It is raining and plus 6 degrees Celcius here on Vancouver Island, so quite a bit warmer. Although our grass is dormant for winter the weeds are not and I see a need to weed our yard in my future. Our trip was both exhausting and stressful and we have decided next year we are staying home at Christmas and will visit with the kids and my Mother-in-law in Alberta mid to early in December instead.
I am looking forward to a New Year, a clean slate if you will. One filled with adventurous travels and fun. 2013 was supposed to be the year of fun but selling both our own home in Alberta, cleaning it out and downsizing and helping Mom sell her house this year equated to lots of not-so-much-fun. We do, however, feel very fortunate that both properties sold and we can all put that behind us.
I wish everyone a safe and happy New Year and will see you in 2014! Cheers!
Happy New Year to you, I love the proverbial fresh slate you get with a new year!
ReplyDeleteYes, such a good time for reflection and goal setting. Cheers!
DeleteYou had quite a busy year! I hope to read a lot of thrifty posts because they always inspire me to save more.
ReplyDeleteEvery little bit helps! Happy Healthy New Year to you and our loved ones :)
I definitely need to get back to thrifty as have gone off the rails a bit of late. Cheers to you and yours as well!
DeleteGlad you arrived home safely! All the best for a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteA bit of a marathon but yes, safe and sound. You too!
DeleteI think you are living my life. 2 moves eight months apart, back and forwards to Calgary including the bone chilling temps. Christmas at both ends-loved the sharing but ho ho'd out. Fog at the airport-but fortunately pilot said he would attempt once-before going to Victoria, and we were able to land. I think the three hour bus ride would have finished me off. Love that your Mom got in rum. Here's to more sedate adventures next year.
ReplyDeleteYes, relaxing, gardening, hiking, bring on sedate! Cheers
DeleteA Happy New Year to you too! Of course you'll be celebrating it later than many of us...
ReplyDeleteI've been bused back to Buffalo from another airport a few times. Out here, they are snow professionals so when the airport is closed, there's a reason. That's also the yardstick I used at the old job for closing the office.
Better to ride in a bus than crash in a plane!
Safety first, a little inconvenience but much safer landing is better any day in my books
DeleteHappy New Year CC, hope it's a good one!

To you as well Judy, you certainly deserve a better year.
DeleteHere's hoping that 2014 is better than 2013!

My sentiments exactly!
DeleteSo glad to hear you're home safe and sound! Almost everyone I know is looking forward to 2014 with high hopes for a better year than 2013. Let's hope we all get what we wish for!
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky, only 2 relatives passed with many elderly relatives and only minor health scares with both Moms, finances and the company went pretty well but all the real estate crap was stressful as I am sure you are fully aware of based on your huge move this year. Cheers!
DeleteYes it's good that you got those big jobs done and over with - let the FUN begin!
ReplyDeleteSometimes for fun to happen we have to plan it - that is what I intend to do - schedule some fun!
DeleteMay your new year be filled with blessings.
ReplyDeleteAnd the same to you and your family!
DeleteGetting both homes sold is a big deal nowadays, so I'd say 2013 was good. Let's hope 2014 will be more fun and less work for you. Happy New Year! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, we are very happy both sold (on round 2 - both were taken off the market for a year and we tried again the next year). Cheers!
DeleteI'm with you - it's been a crazy few weeks & I'm exhausted. We may not go to visit at Christmas next year, but try for a few weeks before or after instead. Welcome hope, & Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteAll the travelling, arrangements, takes the wind right out of you.
DeleteI think that 2014 will be the year for all of us!
ReplyDeleteYep, here is to the best 2014 ever!
