Thrift Store Finds

As promised here are some of my recent thrift store finds .

One of my favorite finds this summer at a garage sale was this vintage paper mache Easter Egg.  It is marked Made in Germany so likely pre-1973.  I have always wanted one of these and nearly ordered one this Spring off Etsy where they go for an average of $10-20 pus shipping.  I now officially have some Easter decorations (versus just boxes and boxes of Christmas decorations).

I am a bit of a minimalist and collect very few things.  One thing I do collect are vintage and antique bottles.  I paid a bit more than normal for this old Slingers Wine bottle but loved the cap and it is quite large - $5 at one of my favorite charity thrift stores.

Now onto the clothing purchased in August.  My new part-time job is in an office setting but we are an internet based company so no general public comes to our offices.  As a result, we can wear what we wish (within limits, my supervisor joked no hootchie bikinis lol).  I prefer to wear nice casual tops with non-jean pants, as I don't wear jeans very often and don't feel comfortable wearing them there.  In August I went on a mini-thrift store clothing shopping spree.  All of the below came to a grand total of $22.37 for four shirts and two pairs of pants.  It pays to shop thrift stores!

Casual sweater, will likely be for home wear.

All one piece, my cheapest item at $1.23

So those were my finds in August.  Now I am going to have a very domestic weekend of cleaning house, cooking, doing some fall decorating with a few small pumpkins and a fall wreath that I have had for several years.  Cheers!

  1. Have a great weekend. I am doing the same, added a wreath Thursday, cleaning the living room today. Doors and windows open.

    1. Hubby saw the pumpkins and said "Its not Halloween yet!" but I actually left the rest of the Halloween decorations to put up mid October. Cheers!

    1. Thanks! I keep my bottle collection in the bathroom window, mostly clear, green and blue bottles so it looks pretty funky when the light shines in.

    1. It was one of those perpetual garage sales, I knew it the instant I stepped in the garage (since they had a cash machine in there). I was not expecting to find a thing but they had it propped in the corner.

  4. The glass bottle looks like the bottle my grandparents kept in the fridge with water. It may not be the same, but if not it was very similar.

    1. I tried to do some research on slingers wine but haven't found much. It is pretty large and would have been perfect for keeping water in the fridge.

  7. My hubby is Austrian and when he was little, he always got an egg like that at Easter filled with candy. We used to have one or two around, but they're long gone.

    1. Cool, when I was a kid my Mom sewed me a stuffed minature wiener dog for Easter one year, made of flowery hippie material. I sure wish I had kept it.

    1. If it does look hoochie I will just not wear it to work, a woman has to look a little hoochie once in a while :)

    1. I wonder if someone bought it and never wore it before they donated. I can't imagine buying things and never wearing them. Cheers!
