Natures Breakfast

I just got back from a quick overnight visit with my mother.  This morning as we were saying goodbye some of the creatures she feeds made an appearance for breakfast.
First the boy hummingbird.

Then the girl hummingbird.

Mr Squirrel

One of the many finches she feeds

It was a glorious day with the sun shining and I finally got some pictures of the hummingbirds that dive bomb me on her front step everytime I visit.  Spring must be coming soon!

  1. What great photos! How wonderful! I miss the sound of birds outside and I haven't seen a squirrel, bunny, groundhog or chipmunk in ages. A big snowstorm is headed our way today. I really hate winter. :(

    1. When I lived in Alberta I missed the wildlife the most in winter too. On Vancouver Island a day does not go by without some creature lighting up my day. I don't miss those snowstorms - keep safe!

    1. I was a little surprised to see them the first time as well but because Mom feeds them all winter they stay rather than flying further south. Soon they will have real flowers to feed on. They are pretty used to people as she keeps the feeder on her front porch so they see her daily.

  3. Beautiful pictures! My Mom has a thing for hummingbirds! She has feeders, too. She doesn't actually see them very often. When she does everybody knows about it!

    1. They must have a little nest in the gigantic tree above her home because there are at least four that come to feed here on a regular basis. She loves them and they are one of her main forms of entertainment.

  4. Spring you say? Not around here though the local groundhog did predict an early one. We just survived our first really significant snowstorm of the winter and finally have a good layer of snow. It'll be quite a while before the hummingbirds make an appearance though I can't wait! Even though the winter has been relatively easy spring can't come soon enough!

    1. I love the hummingbirds, always have. I haven't seen any around my own house but will buy a feeder in Spring and see if I can attract some.
