The Best Contest I Never Won

If you are new to this blog you may not know that as a side hobby I enter contests. They must be free and only for items I would actually like to win with companies I am familiar with.

I got the best email earlier this month letting me know that although I did not win the General Paint Canada's Got Colour contest (photo entry but final draw was picked out of entrants, they did not judge the photo entry)in appreciation for my entry I was given a free can of paint.

Our home is only four years old but there is still maintenance required to ensure it stays in good shape. There are two areas of trim paint that need touch-ups. We had them match the paint from a chip we peeled off of one of the door frames (they painted over plastic). Final cost? Zippo. Zilch. Nada!

This particular paint is $58 per can. So even though I did not win anything - I am counting it as a win. When the rains stop in Spring we can mark one item off the list without having to spend a dime!

  1. Oh, What a great prize! You rock!! There was a book I read the...The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio. I entered a little contest after reading it and actually won! You had to write a story about a real life incident that involved tea. My prize was a boatload of their tea! It was a good thing I was, and still am, a tea lover!

  2. I won a GE set of kitchen appliances a few years ago - stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave , still can't really believe that it happened. It was from a Lysol hang tag.

I would consider the can of paint a win too - that was very generous of them!!

  4. The price of paint is outrageous, so that's a nice appreciation prize! I didn't know about your side hobby. I'd better check the archives and catch up!

    1. I just updated this post to include some older wins. I have been very fortunate! I only do it once in a while and limit myself to single entry so am not competing with professional contesters who may enter the same contest every day.

  5. I would count that as a win Too! I think I need to enter some. You can't win if you don't try!

    1. Exactly, and like the paint sometimes you win even when you don't. Often by entering I end up getting other free things like coupons and freebies.

  6. Well done, it's nice to know people who actually win contests. I enter but never win a thing.

    1. Well, I was one of those people who never won anything...until I did. Then it happened again. If you enter it will happen eventually.

Where do you find your sweepstake entries?

  8. The website http://www.contestgirl.com/ which is great for both USA and Canada. If you join she sends you exactly one email per month so not a spammer. You can keep track of what contests you have entered very easily.
