June Checkin

Well, another month has gone by and it's been busy around here.  We've been busy enjoying life.  We've had 2 visits from kids (essential according to my Dr) and have had lots of ocean visits and been gardening.  Here are some pics from the last month:

We're having a heat wave this week and Buddy has been very grateful for our air conditioning.  Yesterday it was 28 degrees celcius.
My flowers are doing well even though they withstood most of a hail storm before hubby could get to them and bring them under our eaves.  I love succulents and the one at the bottom of this planter has many babies.
I have put a lot of ocean pictures on this blog of our area but few of our very scenic mountains.  I truly live on one of the most beautiful places on the plant and am so happy we moved here many years ago.

We did a bunch of pruning of shrubbery in our yard and went to the dump to offload it.  This deer was eating some of recently pruned items in the yard clipping area of the dump.  I've seen dump bears, dump birds, but never seen a dump deer.  Young deer absolutely love young tree bark and so he was taking full advantage of the buffet.

As for the big C it has now moved into my liver so I am just enjoying life to the fullest now.  I feel amazingly well after recovering from surgery and ending chemo as it wasn't helping anyway.  I am walking between 4-6000 steps a day and have zero pain.  I have some neuropathy in the bottom of my feet that won't go away (no feeling - from chemo) so I can't seem to wear any shoes except fully enclosed runners.  Sandals feel weird and I am not sure on my feet so no heels.  When my stepdaughter was here I was able to give her a couple of pair of cute sandals.  She has smaller feet but they still fit thankfully and I am cleaning out my closet of other shoes I can't wear for a trip to the thrift.

I am now going into stores again, not big ones and not busy ones but I am able to run to my nearest grocery store no problem.  Now that 75% of the population of BC has received their first vaccine and are on the way to their second things are much safer and restrictions are easing here.  I have my 2nd vaccine booked for early July.  It is nice to be able to go out and do things again, something I truly missed this year.

As always, hubby has been amazing but has had some of his own health challenges the last few weeks so for a complete change I actually took care of him.  He will be ok, just needs to see a specialist and get a handle on it.

We have a short 3 night break planned for mid-next week on a nearby island.  A little cabin right on the ocean where the 3 of us can spend some days in the sunshine enjoying nature (Buddy's coming). That's all I've got for today.  Take care and stay safe!

  2. Sounds as if you are having a wonderful June. Family visits are a definite need.

We managed to get our second shots here at the beginning of the month. Our oldest son got his about 2 weeks ago and our youngest son got his a couple of days ago. I feel so much better knowing that while Saskatchewan is slowly chugging along my little nuclear family is safe.

    God bless.

  6. What can be done for the liver cancer?

    1. Nothing more unless I want to continue with brutal chemo which at this point isn't working. Pancreatic cancer is almost impossible to kill unlike other cancers. When it moves to the liver it is the same kind of cells so they still consider it pancreatic and don't have other options. I am choosing to live out my days chemo free at this point - unless there is a lot of pain that it can help with but my Dr doesn't think so. He recommended quitting chemo

    2. Well, I am sorry about that prognosis. Daddy chose not to have chemo when he had pancreatic cancer. He did not want to throw up!
